God's Things Happen When God's People Pray

God's Things Happen When God's People Pray

We need not look far to see the struggles of this world seemingly increasing in magnitude. The local and national news, social media, even our smart phones interrupt our days with things that can make us believe the darkness is winning. We can feel hopeless… But God… But God is still on His throne, the war is already won, and we are on His team! We are living in the space between the ‘Already Finished’ (John 19:30) and ‘Not Yet Done’ (Revelation 21:6), and we are to live as Kingdom people in Kingdom power for Kingdom glory, but we cannot possibly do that if we don’t gather together and PRAY! As God’s people, we all want to see the darkness pushed back. We all want to see the Gospel go forward. We all want to see ‘His will be done on earth as it is in heaven,’ (Matthew 6:10). We all want REVIVAL! What is revival? Revival is a work of God where His Spirit stirs the hearts of His people for the glory of His name! And revival has always come when God’s people have united together in prayer. God Word is replete with accounts of this truth. Why is this true? Because prayer is an admission of our dependence on God. As Charles Spurgeon once said, “Prayer moves the arm that moves the world.” At Cornerstone, we have committed to gathering to pray to seek revival, not only for us individually, or just Cornerstone locally, but for His Bride corporately. We are gathering for 45 minutes for Worship in Prayer on Sunday mornings, we are gathering before and after service, we are gathering with others from other churches in homes, places of work, and coffee shops all throughout the day, to pray for and with one another. We are learning to not only ask “How can I pray for you?” but rather, “How can I pray for you right now?” and then doing it right then. And, because of this, we are seeing the Spirit stoking the flame of our souls to become hot-hearted for Kingdom things. Do we really want to see the church united? Then we will do the most powerful thing we can do to bring about the thing that will most powerfully unify the church — REVIVAL. Revival will come to us when the people of God pray, believing in the power of God, to begin a movement of God, for the glory of God. May we be such a people committed to prayer. And may we see the power of God fall upon us as He uses us to see His Kingdom come and His will be done on earth as it is in heaven. May He shake the very ground. And may His Spirit shake awake many souls.

Acts 4:31

"And when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness."
